- Building a puppet from scratch in Photoshop:
- Create Layer Group
- Main group containing everything can be named anything (character’s name) and put a + before the name (“+” selects “warp independently”)
- “Head”
- new layer “headbg” that is the background of your head
- use Pen tool, set to Shape” and put a single dot on the head for the pivot point and call layer “origin”
- new group “+Right Eye”
- Right Eyeball
- +Right Pupil
- Right Blink
- repeat, or duplicate and rename for left eye
- new layer for “+Nose”
- you can either create a mouth from scratch (many layers) or bring one over from a template and modify as needed”
- new layer “+Right Eyebrow”
- repeat, or duplicate and rename for left eyebrow
- “Body”
- “Head”

- use the Pin tool to fix points to the scene so they don’t move
- use the Dragger Tool (looks like a mouse icon) to put Draggable points on body parts such as hands
- use the Stick Tool (looks like a propeller blade) to draw sticks for the arm (one for upper, one for lower arm)
